Save hours with email snippets that work inside Gmail

Create reusable templates with smart variables, insert them in two keystrokes, and never send an email with "Hi {first_name}" again.

Everything you need. Nothing you don’t.

Inline ; trigger

Type ; while composing to instantly search and insert any snippet. The dropdown appears at your cursor, filters as you type, and inserts with Enter. The ; is removed automatically. You never leave the flow of writing.

Smart variables

Six built-in variables that resolve automatically: {first_name}, {full_name}, {sender_first_name}, {sender_full_name}, {date}, and {clipboard}. Date math like {date+3d} calculates future dates for you.

Custom placeholders with Send Guard

Any text in curly braces becomes a placeholder. Write {meeting_notes} or {pricing_details} and it will be highlighted when inserted. Press Tab to jump between them. If you try to send with unfilled placeholders, CMDK warns you first.

Auto CC/BCC

Configure CC and BCC recipients per snippet. When you insert it, recipients are added to the compose window automatically. Perfect for snippets that always need to loop in your manager, sales team, or a shared inbox.

Auto read receipts and follow-up reminders

Set any snippet to automatically enable read receipts or schedule a follow-up reminder when inserted. Your "proposal sent" snippet can track opens and remind you to follow up in 3 days, no extra steps.

Rich text, preserved perfectly

Bold, italic, links, bullet lists, numbered lists, and inline images are saved and inserted exactly as you wrote them. Your snippets look like real emails, not plain text blobs.

Create from anywhere

Open Cmd+K and type "Create Snippet" to save whatever you are looking at. Composing a draft? The body, subject, CC, and BCC are captured. Reading an email? The email body is captured. Starting fresh? An empty editor opens.

Team sharing (coming soon)

Share snippets with your team so everyone sends consistent, on-brand replies. Build a shared library of templates for support, sales, and onboarding. Create once, share across your entire team.

Common Questions

Email snippets are reusable email templates that you can insert into any compose window with a couple of keystrokes. Unlike Gmail's built-in templates, CMDK snippets support smart variables that auto-fill recipient names and dates, custom placeholders with Tab cycling, auto CC/BCC, and automatic read receipt and follow-up reminder configuration.

Three ways. The fastest is typing ; while composing an email. A search dropdown appears at your cursor. Start typing the snippet name, then press Enter to insert. You can also press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) and type "Insert Snippet" to find snippets from the command bar. Or click the { } button in the Gmail compose toolbar.

CMDK includes six built-in variables: {first_name} and {full_name} for the recipient, {sender_first_name} and {sender_full_name} for you, {date} for today's date, and {clipboard} for your clipboard contents. You can also use date math like {date+3d} for relative dates and {date:MMM DD} for custom date formatting.

CMDK's Send Guard catches it. When you click Send or press Cmd+Enter with unfilled placeholders still in your email, a warning appears asking if you want to go back and fill them in or send anyway. It is a safety net, not a blocker.

Gmail Templates are static text blocks with no variable support, no placeholder detection, and no auto-configuration. You access them through a nested menu (three dots > Templates > select), which takes 4-5 clicks. CMDK Snippets insert in 2 keystrokes, support smart variables, have placeholder cycling with Tab, auto-add CC/BCC recipients, and can auto-enable read receipts and follow-up reminders.

The core insertion experience is similar: both use ; to trigger inline search and support variables and CC/BCC. The key differences are that CMDK works inside Gmail (Superhuman requires a separate app), CMDK starts at $9/mo vs $30/mo for Superhuman, CMDK includes Send Guard to catch unfilled placeholders, and CMDK does not read or store your emails.

Yes. Bold, italic, hyperlinks, bullet lists, numbered lists, and inline images are all preserved when you create and insert a snippet. Your snippets look exactly like a normal email, not stripped-down plain text.

No. CMDK does not read or store your emails. It runs locally in your browser as a Chrome extension. Snippet content is stored securely in your own account and synced across your devices.

Loved by customers all across the world

Nice app. I like Gmail UI, but the shortcode options of Superhuman. So your app is the best of both worlds!

Solid extension that provides many of the key benefits of MUCH pricier tools. Even better that this lives in Gmail, so you can use other extensions as well.

Great - simple as it says, but adds a bunch of convenient time saving features. I don't need a full on client, I just need my Gmail to be fast, and this does it.
