7. Open In Webmail: open mailto links in Gmail
Safari has no built-in way to send mailto: links to Gmail in the browser. Open In Webmail fixes that system-wide: click an email address on any site and it opens a Gmail compose window instead of Apple Mail. It is not a Gmail productivity layer, but it is a Safari-specific fix Mac Gmail users hit constantly.

How to install a Safari extension for Gmail
- Open the extension’s Mac App Store listing and click Get.
- Open the app once after install. Most Gmail extensions walk you through the next step.
- In Safari, go to Settings, then Extensions, and turn the extension on.
- When Safari asks, allow the extension on mail.google.com.
- Reload Gmail so the extension injects.
