Numbered List starts an ordered list as you type. Press Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + 7 and Gmail numbers each new line, which is the clearest way to lay out steps or ranked points in an email.

Numbered list Gmail Shortcut Tutorial

To use the numbered list shortcut in Gmail, first, make sure keyboard shortcuts are enabled in your Gmail settings.

1. Open Gmail and click on the gear icon in the top right corner.
2. Select “See all settings” from the drop-down menu.
3. In the Settings menu, go to the “General” tab.
4. Scroll down to find the “Keyboard shortcuts” section.
5. Make sure the keyboard shortcuts are set to “Keyboard shortcuts on”.
6. Scroll down and click on “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.

Now that keyboard shortcuts are enabled, you can use the numbered list shortcut while composing an email.

1. Start a new email by clicking on the “Compose” button in Gmail.
2. Type out your list items, pressing “Enter” after each item.
3. When you want to create a numbered list, highlight the list items by clicking and dragging your mouse.
4. With the list items still highlighted, press “Ctrl + Shift + 7” (or “Command + Shift + 7” on a Mac) on your keyboard.
5. Your list items will now be numbered in a clean and organized format.
